What To Expect
After breakfast, drive from Gondar to Debark, the administrative headquarters of Simien Mountains National Park. Complete registration formalities and meet your park ranger, scout and trekking crew.
Continue by vehicle to Buyit Ras, the starting point of the trek. Begin hiking along the dramatic escarpment with sweeping views over deep valleys and rugged mountain formations. The trail is frequently visited by Gelada baboons and offers excellent photography opportunities. Arrive at Sankaber Camp (3,250 m) for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, continue trekking through one of the most scenic sections of the Simien Mountains. Descend toward the Jinbar River area to witness the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall, dropping dramatically into a deep canyon.
Cross the river and ascend gradually through Afro-alpine vegetation and giant heath landscapes. Along the route, enjoy sightings of Lammergeyers, Klipspringers and endemic plant species unique to the Ethiopian highlands. Arrive at Geech Camp (3,600 m) surrounded by expansive highland scenery.

After breakfast, hike from Geech Camp toward Imet Gogo (3,926 m), one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of deep valleys, dramatic cliffs and layered mountain ridges stretching into the horizon.
Continue exploring the surrounding escarpments and Afro-alpine plains before returning to Geech Camp for a second overnight stay. This double night at Geech allows for a more relaxed trekking pace and deeper exploration of this central region of the park.

After breakfast, depart Geech and trek toward Siha Gorge, descending through dramatic terrain and ascending again through open highland landscapes. The trail gradually leads to Chenek Camp (3,620 m), one of the most wildlife-rich areas in the Simien Mountains.
The scenery becomes increasingly rugged, with towering cliffs and wide valleys dominating the landscape. Chenek is especially famous for sightings of the endangered Walia ibex grazing along steep escarpments.

Early in the morning, enjoy a guided wildlife walk around Chenek, the best location in the park to observe the endangered Walia ibex. This is also a prime area for spotting Gelada baboons and highland bird species.
After the wildlife experience, begin your drive back to Debark and continue to Gondar, arriving in the afternoon and concluding your unforgettable trekking adventure.
