Catch the first flight to Lalibela, where you will visit the 1st group of Lalibela rock hewn churches. With medieval complex of 11 magnificent rock-hewn churches and 2 chapels , Lalibela ranks as the single most breathtaking historical attraction site in sub-saharan Africa. This world heritage site was constructed almost millennia ago during the reign of King Lalibela at the end of 12th century.
Today you will visit the first group of rock hewn churches namely,
- The twin churches of Bete DebreSina and Golgotha with Selassie Chapel
- Bete MedhaneAlem (the house of the Redeemer of the World)
- Bete Mariam (the house of St. Mary)
- Bete Meskel (the house of Cross)
