Start the journey with a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera. Upon arrival, join your group and drive towards Erta Ale, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The drive passes through striking desert landscapes, leading to Askoma at the base of the volcano. After dinner, embark on a night trek to the volcano’s rim to witness its mesmerizing lava lake. Overnight camping at the summit.
Descend from Erta Ale early in the morning and drive towards Hamed Ela, passing through the Danakil Depression. En route, witness camel caravans and surreal desert landscapes. Arrive at Hamed Ela and enjoy a sunset at Dallol, one of the lowest and hottest places on Earth. Overnight camping at Hamed Ela.
Visit the salt mines of Asebo (Ragad), where local workers extract and shape salt blocks. Continue to the colorful hot springs of Dallol before heading to Lake Assal. After experiencing the geological wonders of the Danakil, drive to Hawzen, where you’ll spend the night at Gheralta Lodge or Vision Hotel.
Explore the famous rock-hewn churches of Gheralta, including Abuna Yemata Guh, which requires a steep climb and offers spectacular views. After lunch in Hawzen, drive to Edaga Arbi village and begin a trek to the top of Table Mountain, where you may encounter Gelada baboons. Overnight at Shimbreyti community guest house.
Trek for two hours back to Edaga Arbi, then drive to Semera for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Overnight at Aya Hotel.
Take an early morning flight to Lalibela, Ethiopia’s most famous historical site. Visit the first group of rock-hewn churches, including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, and Bet Golgotha. Overnight at Top 12 Hotel.
Fly from Lalibela to Gondar, known for its medieval castles and richly decorated churches. Visit Fasil Ghebbi (the Royal Enclosure) and Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its angelic ceiling paintings. Overnight at Haile Resort.
Drive from Gondar to Sankaber, the gateway to the Simien Mountains. Trek through grasslands and forests, encountering Gelada baboons and stunning escarpments. Visit the dramatic Jinbar Falls before reaching Gich village, where you’ll camp overnight.
Trek to the breathtaking viewpoint of Imet Gogo, offering panoramic views of the Simien Mountains. Continue through unique highland ecosystems before returning to Ambaras. In the afternoon, drive back to Gondar, concluding your adventure.
