What To Expect

Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa – Arba Minch – Chencha Dorze Villages

Arrive in Addis Ababa, where you will be welcomed by our guide for a short city tour before your afternoon flight to Arba Minch. Upon arrival, drive to the Dorze village in the Gughe Mountains to witness the unique beehive-shaped huts and traditional weaving techniques. Spend the evening experiencing the Dorze culture

Day 2: Arba Minch – Turmi

After breakfast, take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the “crocodile market,” where large Nile crocodiles bask in the sun. You will also see hippos and diverse birdlife. Afterward, drive to Turmi, stopping en route at the Konso village, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its intricate terracing and vibrant traditions. Visit the Bana people, recognized for their colorful clay hair decorations. In Turmi, explore the customs of the Hamer tribe, known for their body adornments and traditional bull-jumping ceremonies.

Day 3: Turmi – Omorate – Jinka

Begin the day with an excursion to Omorate to meet the Dassanech people, a semi-nomadic tribe living along the Omo River. Return to Turmi for lunch before heading to Jinka, stopping at an Ari village along the way. The Ari people are known for their expertise in pottery and agriculture.

Day 4: Jinka – Mago National Park – Addis Ababa

Travel to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for the women’s clay lip plates. Experience their way of life and unique customs before returning to Jinka for lunch. Later, transfer to Jinka Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner with cultural performances before heading to the airport for departure.

Day 5: Fly to Semera – Drive to Hamed Ela

Take a morning flight to Semera, the gateway to the Danakil Depression. Drive through the Afar region, stopping at Lake Afdera for a lunch break and a possible swim in the salt lake. Continue to Hamed Ela, where you will experience the stunning sunset at Lake Asale.

Day 6: Dallol – Erta Ale Volcano

Explore the colorful sulfur springs of Dallol, one of the lowest and hottest places on Earth. Visit Lake Assal and witness the traditional salt mining process before driving towards Erta Ale. This shield volcano is home to the world’s only permanent lava lake. After an early dinner, trek to the volcano’s rim to witness the mesmerizing lava flow.

Day 7: Erta Ale – Semera – Fly to Addis Ababa

Enjoy a final glimpse of the boiling lava lake before descending. After breakfast, drive to Afdera and continue to Semera Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa, marking the end of your incredible journey.
