Depending on your landing time, we will explore the historic landmarks of Addis Ababa, including the National Museum (home of “Lucy”) and the panoramic Entoto Hill. Overnight: Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Addis Ababa to the Dodola Gateway

We begin our journey south through the Great Rift Valley, passing through Shashemene toward the trekking base of Dodola. Upon arrival, we meet with the Community Tourism Office to arrange our expert local guides, horse handlers, and porters. We take an afternoon acclimatization walk in the surrounding forest to prepare for the high-altitude trek. Overnight: Community Lodge, Dodola (2,400m).

Day 3: Trekking to Finchana Eco-Lodge

The Adaba-Dodola Community Trekking Tour begins its mountain phase today. We hike for 5–6 hours through lush Juniper and Hagenia forests, teeming with highland birdlife. Day 6: Forest Heritage & Waharo Lodge

We begin a gradual descent through alpine grasslands and juniper forests. Along the 5–6 hour trek, we visit small Oromo hamlets to learn about traditional forest beekeeping—a vital part of local sustainable livelihoods. We arrive at Waharo Lodge, a beautifully situated site nestled by a small mountain stream. Overnight: Waharo Eco-Lodge.
