Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera, the gateway to the Danakil Depression. Upon arrival, embark on a scenic 5-6 hour drive to Hamed Ela, stopping at Lake Afdera for lunch and an optional swim. In the evening, visit Lake Asale with its stunning salt flats and enjoy refreshments as you take in the breathtaking views.

After breakfast, set out to explore the colorful and surreal volcanic landscapes of Dallol, one of the lowest places on Earth (-125m below sea level). Visit the otherworldly salt formations, Lake Assal, and witness the iconic camel caravans transporting salt. Afterward, continue driving to Gheralta, then on to Mekele for your return flight to Addis Ababa.
