Itenerary

Day 1:  Fly Addis –-Arba Minch- Chencha Dorze Villages At the airport, you will be welcomed by Lucy Ethiopia Tours’ guide and you will have a short sightseeing in Addis Abeba and we transfer you to the airport again to depart at 2:35 pm. On arrival at Arba Minch, We will be driving to the Dorzy village, this people set high up in the Gughe Mountains where we see the traditional Dorze weaving and living style. Overnight at Haile Resort.

Day 2:  Arbaminch – Turmi

After breakfast you will take a boat trip in Lake Lake Chamo, to visit the crocodile market, it is a local name for a place in Lake Chamo where the crocodiles go out of the lake and chill, there is no buying or selling, also you will see hippos and different kinds of birds late drive to Turmi then you will have a chance of seeing the Konso village, one of the UNESCO sites in Ethiopia know by their terracing. One of the best types of coffee in the country is also from this village. Proceed to the Bana village. The Bana are indigenous pastoral and semi-nomadic people living in the harsh environment of lower Omo Valley. The men often have their hair dressed up with a colorful clay cap that is decorated with feathers. Then proceed to the Turmi where the Hamer tribes. Overnight Turmi Lodge or Buska Lodge

Day 3:  Turmi- Omorate- Jinka

After having your breakfast, you will have an excursion to Omorate to visit the Dassanech people ‘people of the Delta’, who live on the northern shore of Lake Turkana. Visit and drive back to Turmi for lunch then drive to Jinka then we will be driven to the Ari people, the largest population in the lower Omo valley. The women who wear skirts from the banana-like tree, called Enset are experts in pottery. And continue driving to Jinka Overnight at Jinka Resort.

Day 4:  Jinka-Mago – Jinka-Addis Ababa

Take a day excursion to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi village. The Mursi are one of the exotic ethnic groups in Ethiopia. They live in very low huts made of straw leaves. The women like to wear terra cotta on their enormously stretched lower lips and ear lobes. Drive back to Jinka for lunch. later you will be transferred to the Jinka Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.

Day 5:  Semera – Hamedela

You will fly from Addis to Semera (morning) and you drive about 5-6 hrs to reach Hamed Ela on the way, you will stop at Lake Afdera for lunch and maybe even swim a bit. In the next camping village this evening, we will visit Lake Asale with salt flats and have wine or beer drink in the stunning place while you are swimming in the salt lake. o/n open air camping at hamedela

Day 6:  Dalol- Erta ale (volcano)

After breakfast, you will drive to the colorful attractions of Dalol which is located at -125 below sea level. Here you will visit the different landscapes formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal + camel caravans. Excursion to Dallol (116 meters below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) colorful salt mining. After we visit all the attractions, continue driving to Erta Ale which ranks as one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and a 1km square caldera at its summit. Erta Ale contains the world’s only permanent lava lake. It is 613 meters altitude, with a lava lake, The drive may take about 4 hrs passing through a changing landscape of solidified lava rock and sand After passing several small hamlets scattered here and there in this deserted land, you will arrive at Erta Ale camping site,. After a short break and early dinner, just before sunset, we will trek for about 1 hour to Erta Ale, where we spend a few hrs watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. And you will trek back to the basic camp basement to spend the night, and sleep under the stars).

Day 7:  Ertale-Semera

Early morning, you visit boiling lava again, and after breakfast drive to Afdera about 2 hrs. From Afdera, drive on asphalt road to Semera for about 3:30 hrs to Semera airport And fly back to Addis and home. End of the tour

  • Torches (walking in the night)
  • Small backpack for the trek to the top of the volcano
  • Closed, comfortable shoes (trekking shoes )
  • Swimming clothes
  • Sun protection like sun cream, a hat jacket for the night on the volcano
